A United March in Nouakchott Celebrates the Ceasefire on Gaza

In a heartfelt display of solidarity, the streets of Nouakchott witnessed a vibrant procession led by Hachida Benouakshout, marking the ceasefire on Gaza. The national movement organized this march following Friday prayers, rallying thousands to express their unwavering support for Palestine.

Beginning from the city’s grand mosque, participants marched through the bustling heart of Nouakchott and paused in front of the United Nations offices, symbolizing international recognition and concern. This poignant moment underscored a global call for peace and an end to hostilities in Gaza.

The General Secretary of the National Rally, Sheikhani Bibe, praised Moroccans’ relentless efforts—day and night—for Palestine’s cause. He highlighted their financial contributions and ceaseless activities as pivotal in achieving this victory. Sheikhani’s words served not only as gratitude but also as a call to action for continued support in rebuilding Gaza into something even more resilient.

Salah Ould Henna, representing political parties in Mauritania, honored the Palestinian people—elders, youth, mothers, doctors, nurses, and journalists—who stood firm through this significant battle. He condemned the arrogance of imperialism, supported by Western allies, that threatened their dignity. Ould Henna emphasized the importance of financial aid for reconstruction efforts in Gaza, urging every Mauritanian to contribute according to their ability.

Mohamed Sabah Abu Saker from Hamas’s movement in Mauritania stressed that Gaza’s triumph is a shared victory with Mauritanians. He highlighted Mauritania’s consistent support before, during, and after the crisis. Looking ahead, he envisioned waves of volunteers traveling by land or sea to aid in rebuilding efforts, reinforcing the notion of an enduring bond between the two peoples.

Dr. Abu Saker underscored the necessity for continuous Moroccan support, framing it as a moral obligation to stand alongside Gaza not only in battle but also through reconstruction. This collective call to action resonates with a message of solidarity and resilience, promising that Gaza will never face these challenges alone.

This march was more than just a ceremonial act; it was a testament to the enduring spirit of unity and support transcending borders. It reminded us all that together, we can overcome adversity and build a future founded on peace and mutual respect.
