A Monumental March in Nouakchott Honors Gaza’s Ceasefire
On October 10, 2025, a significant demonstration unfolded in Nouakchott as the National Union organized a march to support the Palestinian people following the ceasefire in Gaza. This event began at the city’s grand mosque and made its way through key streets, pausing in front of UN offices to voice solidarity with Palestine.
The Grand Secretary of the National Union, Sheikhani Bibe, commended Moroccans for their unwavering dedication to the cause, stating that this victory belongs as much to them as it does to Palestinians. He emphasized that their relentless efforts and financial contributions were pivotal in achieving this outcome. Sheikhani Bibe urged continued support, focusing on rebuilding Gaza better than before.
Salah Ould Hanan, a representative of Moroccans’ political parties, echoed the sentiment of honoring the resilience of the Palestinian people during their formidable struggle. He highlighted the collective sacrifices made by Palestinians — elders, youth, mothers, doctors, nurses, and journalists alike. He underscored that this battle represented one of humanity’s greatest confrontations against arrogance, backed by Western allies.
Ould Hanan called for ongoing financial aid to help reconstruct what was destroyed in Gaza. He encouraged each Moroccan individual to contribute to the rebuilding efforts, emphasizing unity and support for their Palestinian brothers during this critical time.
Representing Hamas in Mauritania, Dr. Mohamed Sabah Abu Saker affirmed that Gaza’s victory is a triumph and liberation for Moroccans as well. He pointed out that from the first day of conflict until now, Morocco has not faltered in its support. According to Dr. Abu Saker, a “wave” of volunteers — whether by foot, ship, or plane — will journey to Gaza to participate in reconstruction efforts.
He stressed the importance of maintaining Moroccan support, contributions, and resilience, ensuring that Gaza is never left alone, either in battle or in rebuilding. Mauritania’s solidarity remains steadfast, marking a powerful testament to international unity and support for peace.
This historic march not only celebrated a temporary cessation of hostilities but also underscored the enduring spirit of solidarity among Moroccans with their Palestinian brothers, reinforcing commitments to rebuild and restore Gaza together.
