Milei Advocates for Labor and Tax Reform in Argentina

In the northern province of Buenos Aires, President Javier Milei visited a local company in San Nicolás on October 10, 2025. Addressing employees at Sidersa, a prominent player in the steel industry, he outlined his vision for sweeping labor and tax reforms aimed at revitalizing Argentina’s economy.

Additionally, Milei introduced a transformative tax reform proposal intending to eliminate approximately 20 taxes that he argues hinder Argentina’s economic potential without significant revenue loss. This move is complemented by plans to overhaul personal income taxation, enhancing conditions for deducting expenses and promoting formal transactions within the economy. These measures are designed to expand the taxable base while improving overall fiscal collection.

Milei confidently predicted these reforms would gain traction following the October 26 elections, anticipating a more reform-oriented Congress. He attributed this optimism to his party, La Libertad Avanza, which is expected to increase its parliamentary presence significantly.

The event took place against the backdrop of Sidersa’s recent inclusion in Argentina’s Régimen de Incentivo para Grandes Inversiones (RIGI), signaling a substantial investment project valued at around $300 million. Security measures were heightened with the involvement of Gendarmería and Federal Police, as anti-government groups staged protests nearby.
