"Connor has cancer - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia" marked two years ago as he joined One Thousand Australian children aged 0 to 18 diagnosed annually with Cancer, starting an unimaginable journey for every Child.
Fast-Forwarding To September of this Year: Connor is now eight and victorious; After months of intensive treatment at hospitals across Australia - he's cancer-free. His greatest triumph was celebrating life by sharing laughs with NRL Bulldogs player Jacob Kiraz from Bathurst 1000 Races, to the emotional bell-ringing ceremony in The Children's Hospital marking his recovery completion.
Rebecca's words ring true: “The fear that comes with a childhood Cancer diagnosis is unlike anything else; it's moment that turns lives upside down. Families rely on their oncology teams and support of communities like Kids with Cancer Foundation for days we could not imagine surviving.” Connor, an eight-year-old child battling cancer was supported by many Ambassadors including Jacob Kiraz who played instrumental roles in supporting them during the trials.
As he neared his recovery's completion - A bell ringing ceremony at The Children's Hospital marked it as a milestone. Kids with Cancer Foundation CEO Todd Prees said: "Children’s Oncology Wards around Australia have this unique symbol of children conquering cancer which Connor was excited to ring off, marking an incredible moment for everyone involved."Connor celebrates being free from the disease in partnership with Jacob Kiraz who inspired him by courageously fighting his brother's leukemia. During that chat on YouTube - we learned how he dealt through pain and found solace among family members.
In 2023 Connor was diagnosed after countless sicknesses which were initially attributed to common childhood ailments like school germs, growing pains or bruising in the hospital wards of The Children's Hospital at Westmead (He lost his walking ability twice requiring physiotherapy sessions). In August he suffered severe stomach pain resulting into an emergency visit. Blood tests followed revealing a cancer diagnosis - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Post this discovery Connor underwent seven intensive months for chemotherapy and faced numerous side effects with isolation ward stays, losing the capability to walk which required re-building strength through repeated physiotherapy sessions till March 2024 was declared free from Cancer after eight continuous treatment cycles. In August 2025 he finally rang out his victory bell at The Children's Hospital in Westmead.
"Children's Oncology wards around Australia have a distinctive symbol of children conquering cancer - ringing the Bell signifies not only an ending but also hope for others, celebrating this milestone which Connor was extremely excited to partake."
