Triple J Unveils National 50th Anniversary Concerts for AusMusic Month
As the anticipation builds for AusMusic Month, Australia’s beloved national broadcaster triple j has announced a series of five epic concerts across the country to celebrate its 50-year anniversary. These events promise to be a landmark celebration in November, bringing together some of the nation’s most talented artists and providing fans with unforgettable live music experiences.
A Historic Celebration
Triple j first graced the airwaves in January 1975, quickly establishing itself as an integral part of Australia’s cultural landscape by championing local music. Now, five decades later, it marks this milestone with a series of concerts dubbed “triple j 50 On Tour.” This nationwide tour not only celebrates triple j’s legacy but also coincides with AusMusic Month, showcasing the vibrant diversity and creativity within Australia’s music scene.
Concert Lineups Across the Nation
The journey begins in Hobart on November 15th at Odeon. Fans will have the opportunity to witness the eclectic sounds of Courtney Barnett alongside Luca Brasi, Emily Wurramara, and Gordon’s Grandson. The following weekend shifts to Newcastle on Friday, November 21st, where the lineup includes Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, The Grogans, South Summit, and Horse, promising a dynamic night of performances.
The celebration continues in Adelaide on Saturday, November 22nd, at The Gov, featuring Tkay Maidza, Barkaa, Nerve, and Zion Garcia. As the month progresses, the Gold Coast hosts an event on Thursday, November 27th, at Miami Marketta with Mallrat, Darcie Haven, Jem Cassar-Daley, and Lottie McLeod set to take the stage. The festivities conclude in Torquay on Friday, November 28th, where Ninajirachi, FUKHED, IsGwan, and KSMBA will perform at the Torquay Hotel.
A Note for Western Australia
While these concerts promise nationwide excitement, it’s important to note that this year’s events do not include Western Australia. However, fans in the region were treated earlier this year when Busselton hosted the One Night Stand event in May, raising significant funds for Support Act.
More Than Just Concerts
These national celebrations are part of a broader array of AusMusic Month activities, including the much-anticipated annual Ausmusic T-Shirt Day. This year’s event will coincide with triple j’s Gold Coast show on November 27th, encouraging participants to support Support Act’s essential programs.
Join the Celebration
Tickets for these landmark concerts go on sale from 9 am on October 10th via triple j. Fans are encouraged not to miss this opportunity to be part of a historic celebration that promises to be both an auditory and emotional journey through Australia’s rich musical heritage.
As we look forward to November, these concerts offer a chance to reflect on the past 50 years while celebrating the vibrant future of Australian music. With such diverse lineups across the country, “triple j 50 On Tour” is set to be a monumental series of events that will leave an indelible mark on Australia’s cultural calendar.
