Celebrating AusMusic: Triple J’s National 50th Anniversary Concert Series
As the vibrant tapestry of Australian music continues to evolve, a monumental celebration is set to honor its rich history and future potential. The iconic radio station triple j has announced an ambitious series of concerts across the nation, marking both their own 50-year milestone and AusMusic Month in November. This nationwide musical journey not only commemorates triple j’s influential presence since January 1975 but also celebrates local talent that has shaped Australia’s cultural landscape.
A Tour Across the Nation
This commemorative tour, aptly named triple j 50 On Tour, will span several iconic locations, each offering a unique blend of seasoned artists and emerging voices. The concerts promise to be an electrifying fusion of music genres, showcasing talent that spans generations and styles.
Hobart: A Melodic Start
The inaugural concert takes place on November 15th at Odeon in Hobart. This lineup features Courtney Barnett, renowned for her raw songwriting prowess; Luca Brasi, known for his energetic performances; Emily Wurramara, a celebrated Indigenous artist blending traditional and contemporary sounds; and Gordon’s Grandson, bringing an eclectic mix of jazz, reggae, and soul.
Newcastle: A Weekend of Revelry
The tour then moves to Newcastle on November 21st at King St, setting the stage for Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers, known for their spirited rock sound. They’ll be joined by The Grogans, South Summit, and Horse, each bringing distinct musical flair to the event.
Adelaide: A Fusion of Styles
On November 22nd, Adelaide’s Gov will host a vibrant lineup with Tkay Maidza, who infuses hip-hop with electro-pop; Barkaa, offering experimental electronic sounds; Nerve, known for their indie rock vibes; and Zion Garcia, celebrated for his unique blend of folk and punk.
Gold Coast: A Coastal Celebration
The next concert is set for November 27th at Miami Marketta in the Gold Coast. Mallrat will headline with her catchy pop tunes, accompanied by Darcie Haven’s soothing melodies, Jem Cassar-Daley’s storytelling through country music, and Lottie McLeod’s captivating vocals.

Beyond Concerts: Ausmusic Month Celebrations
These concerts are just one facet of the extensive celebrations during AusMusic Month. Notably, this year’s edition includes the annual Ausmusic T-Shirt Day on November 27th, coinciding with the Gold Coast event. Participants will have the chance to support Support Act’s essential programs while showcasing their love for Australian music.
A Missed Opportunity and Future Plans
While these celebrations are grand, Western Australia notably misses out this year, having hosted last year’s One Night Stand in Busselton, which raised significant funds for Support Act. However, plans are already underway to ensure future inclusivity across all states.
Tickets: Grab Your Chance!
Tickets for these electrifying events go on sale via triple j from 9 am on October 10th. Fans across Australia are encouraged to secure their spots and be part of this historic celebration of music.
This year’s anniversary is not just about looking back but also celebrating the future of Australian music. As artists and fans unite, they will create unforgettable memories that resonate with the spirit of creativity and community that defines AusMusic.
