Launching Bold Ideas: The Conrey Center for Entrepreneurship at CSUF
In a significant gesture of generosity and commitment to fostering innovation, the Conrey Center for Entrepreneurship at California State University Fullerton (CSUF) was named in honor of Jerry Conrey and his wife, Dr. Victoria Shook Conrey. This momentous occasion took place during an Oct. 2 ceremony, celebrating their $4.5 million planned gift aimed at empowering students with entrepreneurial spirit. The university recognized the profound impact this contribution would have on nurturing bold ideas among students.
Jerry Conrey, founder and principal of Conrey Insurance Brokers and Risk Managers, along with his wife Dr. Victoria Shook Conrey, a retired physician dedicated to healing, symbolize service and care—values deeply embedded in their legacy. Together, they have championed entrepreneurial education for nearly two decades through scholarships and mentorship programs.
The naming ceremony held at CSUF’s College of Business and Economics marked not just an honor but also the embodiment of Jerry Conrey’s vision—a “launchpad for bold ideas.” As Dean Sri Sundaram expressed gratitude on behalf of the university, he emphasized how this gift will open new opportunities and bolster the center’s influence, transforming student lives for years to come. This initiative is not only about fostering entrepreneurship within the campus but also enhancing the entrepreneurial community in Southern California.
CSUF President Ronald Rochon commended the Conreys’ dedication and service, highlighting their role in nurturing future leaders who embody creativity and resilience. He stressed that this contribution was a testament to selfless giving, encouraging students to understand its significance.
The ceremony featured student Enrique “Ricky” Guerrero, a recipient of the 2025 Conrey Insurance Brokers and Risk Managers Entrepreneurial Scholarship. Reflecting on his journey, Guerrero shared how the center’s mentorship had been pivotal in reshaping his life trajectory, reinforcing the invaluable impact of such educational support systems.
In closing, Jerry Conrey imparted wisdom to the audience: “Invest in people.” His words echoed a universal truth—the highest return comes from investing in human potential without the constraints often found in financial ventures. This message resonates with those who understand that education and mentorship are investments in our future, bearing fruit in the form of empowered individuals capable of driving change.
The Conrey Center for Entrepreneurship stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, guiding students to challenge themselves, think bigger, and lead with purpose. Through this noble gesture by Jerry and Dr. Victoria Shook Conrey, CSUF continues its mission of transforming lives and communities through education and innovation.
